Sometimes when there’s a new Indie pattern company I buy their pattern just to see how they’re doing things. How have they styled their instructions? What do their PDF patterns look like? What new inventions have they come up with to improve user experience? And I imagine you’re wondering about the same when you see a new company pop up. We’ve gotten used to a certain standard from Indie patterns and expectations are high. Since we’re new in the neighbourhood I thought I’d show you some previews of our patterns and instructions so you know what you get when you buy a pattern from us.
A not so Christmassy post from me today, but one that still might come in handy. I hope you’ve managed to plan some sewing time after the Christmas madness is over. I think those days until New Years are always so nice and quiet, perfect for catching up on projects. I’ll have to work on the next pattern, but it does involve sewing so I’m not complaining. Fabric choice is key for every pattern, but even more so for the Opal Cardigan. You can make your choice based on what kind of style you are looking for, or whether you’re a sweater knit rookie or an expert. I’ve used three very different fabrics for my samples to show what the fabric choice can do with the fit and the style of the cardigan. The recommended fabric section in the instructions lists sweater knit, but if you find a nice ponte or French terry you can use that too. I’ve used a lightweight knit for View A, a medium weight and coarse knit fro View B, and a heavy textured 70% wool knit for View C. They are all made in size B, graded out at the hips to C.
