What You Made – Winter edition

It’s been too long since I did a round up of the creations people have made with our patterns. Did you know you can find them at any time on our Pinterest board? Just in case you need some inspiration. If you’d like us to find your garments too, tag us on social media @paprikapatterns (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) or use the pattern hashtag. A lot of great makes have popped up this Autumn and Winter and here are some of my favorites. Enjoy!

It’s not really Onyx season, but Hanne’s Onyx setacular is gorgeous and perfect for the Holiday season!

It’s obviously winter in most parts of the world, the Jasper is selling like hotcakes again and the Jade and Zircon are not far behind! We’ll be adding another winter pattern to our collection soon. In the meantime I hope I’ll have time to make myself another Jade skirt, it’s just been too long. So again, if you have something to share please tag us @paprikapatterns. As you might know almost every indie pattern company creates its own sizechart. Every designer does his or her research on the subject, and then chooses the sizes/size proportions he or she thinks represent the average women best. Hi Paprika and SIM readers! I’m Dixie from Dixie DIY Patterns and I’m quite excited to share this nifty little Onyx Shirt hack with you. I used the Onyx Shirt as a base and did something a little different – I added a lining with lace attached to the hem. I like this look better than just sewing lace to the hem of a shirt because it looks like you’re wearing two separate tops and the layers move independent of one another.

Amber: Recommended Fabric

If you’re about to make the Amber Trousers, you probably have an idea in mind of what style you’re going for. Should they be casual or formal, easy summer pants or chique evening wear, do you want them to hold their shape or drape around your legs? Whichever it will be, the outcome will be determined by which view you choose and which fabric. In this post I’ll give you some good resources to find the right fabric and discuss which fabrics are most suitable for which looks.

Zircon: Recommended Fabric (+ Discount!)

Let’s zoom in on what fabrics are suitable for the Zircon Sweater/Dress.The recommended fabric section in the instructions lists sweater fleece, neoprene, fleece and quilted jersey. French terry’s, jacquard and interlock or double knits can also be suitable, but with these you definitely have to check the amount of stretch. Fuel your Creativity by Organising your Stash – Part 2

Last week we talked about how having a large fabric and/or pattern stash can make us feel guilty and embarrassed. Moreover, if you lose track of what you have, your large stash is not creating opportunities but inhibiting your creativity. I listed steps for you to follow if you want to do something about this: eliminate temptation, catalogue your stash and catalogue your patterns. Check out the comment section too, there’s some great examples of how others catalogue their stash and patterns. If you have already started: yay you!   3. This makes me want to make more seeing all those other lovely jaspers – have got some new batty french terry in the shop that might work :)
