PPM #4 Knot Dress (Musubu)

The results of the poll were very clear: 68% of you wanted to see the Musubu as my next project. 25% chose Dekoboko, and only 6% chose Otoshiana. So I guess you still have a preferance for pretty dresses with big bows, huh? It was funny to see the result, I thought as a pattern the Musubu was the least interesting and not something I’d wear even though it looks the most wearable. Turns out I was wrong! I had so much fun making this. And as a bonus it turned out to be very wearable even for me, so you chose well. Thanks for participating! I included some sewing instructions, because I have a feeling you’ll want to make one too. I’ll do a special post on how to tie a nice bow later this week. I hope it fulfills your expectations!

Choosing Buttons for the Jasper Hood

Adding buttons to the Jasper hood is of course optional, but for me it just looks more finished with buttons. They are not functional, but they give the impression that the hood is wrapped around your head almost.

Different types and colours of buttons can completely change the style of your hoodie. Below are a couple of example. The big black ones make it bold, the white and checkered ones give it more of a 60’s looks, and so forth. I love the flower ones but they were a bit big for my taste – I wish I had bought the smaller version!

Another kind of Full Bust Adjustment (FBA) to add to the collection: one for a dartless bodice. This one is useful when you’re sewing the Onyx Shirt, but can be used on any sort of bodice without darts. I’ve drafted the images in Illustrator this time instead of making photo’s since I’m not completely satisfied with my photography setup at the moment.
